By Nvasekie N. Konneh
July 30, 2009
The recent FELMAUSA elections did not only generate excitement here in America, there was lot of excitement among our folks in Monrovia as well. Not only were some groups excited in Monrovia, those groups also invested time and energies to demonstrate their interests in the future of FELMAUSA. Among the groups that showed great interests in the elections were Progressive Youths for Transparency and progress and the Quardu Gboni District University Student Association. These two groups went to the extent of endorsing the candidacy of Mohammed Dukuly. Read

Ellen Causes Stir on TRC: Avoids Elaborate Comments
Daily Observer:Fatoumata Fofana
July 28, 2009
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf caused stir at the official program of the Independence Day celebrations in Gbarnga, Bong County, yesterday when she commented for the first time on the TRC final report that seeks to ban her from holding political office and prosecute warlords for their roles in the Liberian conflict. She received standing ovation at the ceremony that was attended mostly by government officials and traditional chiefs when she said: “I have dedicated my life to navigating a future for Liberia free from war and fear and grounded in individual freedom and opportunity. 'I Will Stand Tall in Defense of Ellen'
-Cllr. Varney Sherman, Rubbishes TRC 30-Year Ban

July 20, 2009
MONROVIA, Counselor Varney G. Sherman says the blanket indictment of supporters of warring factions, which forms part of the recommendations by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), calling for the exclusion of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, among others, from appointive and elective offices, 'violates Article 81 of the Constitution of Liberia'. He added that he would stand tall in defense of the President. Read

What Is the Mission of TRC: reconciliation or prosecution?
By Nvasekie N. Konneh
July 15, 2009

Note: In 2003, I wrote an article captioned “Why Are We Fighting” which prompted a three part articles of rebuttal from the Liberian writer, Paul Yeenie Harry .based in Poland. The article below is the revised version of the previous article.

When Liberians overwhelmingly embraced the war launched by the NPFL in the early 90s, did they think that the war was going to be a Tea Party? Even from that very beginning when there were widespread reports of ethnic genocides committed by the rebels, wasn’t everyone looking the other way while at the same time condemning the Doe’s government? "LET'S CHAKLA IT."
By Emmanuel Abalo
July 9, 2009
The attitude has always been :"let's chakla it, we will fix it". It is no surprise that the wanton disregard for the rule of law and lack of consideration for the welfare and cohesion of the Republic has been secondary to selfish interests for decades in Liberia.
The reaction of some in government, the National Legislature and and ex-warlords to Liberia's Truth and Reconciliation Commission's (TRC) final report is tantamount to "a country of men" and not laws. Read

LIBERIA: The Dynamics Of A Transforming Society
Francis W. Nyepon

July 1, 2009
The vision to significantly transform the Liberian society must first deal with changing behavior, attitude and mindset of people at the bottom of the social strata. Change can never come to Liberia with the majority of its people believing that public officials do not have their best interest at heart as a collective; or the majority of the people being stuck at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder. The Dynamics of Change in the History of Mandingoes
By: Mohammed Swaray
June 29, 2009
In Western Africa, Mandingoes are widely spread and economically engaged than most other tribes in the region. This was influenced by their eminent positions in the 13th-17th centuries, when they took over many Africa States through dominance of governance, power, economic ventures and warrior conquest. Read

The Mamadee Sesay Campaign Fourteen Points Platform
June 27, 2009
By the PR
As presidential candidate, the responsibility for the overall organization and management of my campaign lies under my leadership. I therefore want to make sure that we have clearly defined expectations for ourselves and for those we want to lead. One way I think we can achieve success is to make sure we set our goals and specify how we intend to achieve those goals in the short and long run.  In so doing, we need to come out with a platform that will set the tone of our campaign, shows the motivation and enthusiasm of my candidacy as well as excite our supporters

June 25, 2009

We bear no ill felling towards anyone, even those that have convicted us without hearing our side of the story on several issues; including the reported inaction of the Board under our leadership. As Abe Lincoln stated in his second inaugural address in March of 1865 "With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right as God... Read
